Introducing Ji Young Kim as part of the #agnonapenelopestories. A former digital director of Vogue Korea, and fashion director. Ji Young photographed and filmed herself in her home in Seoul. Where she portrays a Korean tradition of dying nails using balsam that conveys a meaning of a woman's desire to beautify herself symbolizing health.

The beauty of nature is something South Koreans celebrate with both joy and solemnity. When flowers bloom in April of the lunar calendar, Korean women harvest the petals and leaves of balsam, blending them with alum on a flat stone to produce a mixture. They then soak the dye into the nails wrapping their fingers in cloth leaving them overnight to create a natural stain.
